Every individual is unique, but the following rings true for most:
Traditional gel polish manicures typically last around 2-4 weeks, although this can vary depending on several factors.
Regular nail lacquer (non-gel) usually lasts between five to ten days, with some variation. For an extremely durable and fast-drying option, I recommend Dazzle Dry nail lacquer, known for its longevity of two weeks or more for some users.
Gel overlays have an extremely long wear time, but it is NOT recommended to go more than 4-5 weeks. Wearing enhancements with a lot of new growth can compromise the natural nail structure. Also, gels continue to harden and over time may cause product breakdown which can lead to lifting or bacteria being trapped and requires more work during your maintenance appointment.
I take careful steps to ensure proper preparation and application to minimize lifting, chipping, or cracking. Factors such as your lifestyle, the condition of your natural nails, growth rate, and at-home care all influence how long your fresh nails will last.
If you’ve had issues like lifting or chipping in the past, it may be due to damaged or naturally oily nail plates. In such cases, extra attention during preparation is crucial to ensure the nail product adheres well. It’s important to communicate any concerns or past problems with me so I can address them effectively.
Lastly, remember to treat your nails with care—they’re not tools! Protect your investment and keep up with your maintenance appointments 🙂
